BERERIX, the construction association responsible for the design and construction of the Riga Central Hub of Rail Baltica, informs that the construction of the Riga Railway Bridge and the Central Passenger Station Complex requires the extension of the closing of the city canal from 13. janvāra iela to Ģenerāļa Radziņa krastmala to water vehicle traffic. The extension will be valid until 30 November 2023.
The complete closure of the canal is necessary for the safety of water vehicles, including SUP and similar small craft, their drivers and passengers. The construction works include the monolithic reinforced concrete structures of the Rail Baltica railway bridge over the canal, as well as the installation of a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge in the area connecting Centrāltirgus iela 4 with Prāgas iela 2 (exit from Stockmann Tunnel towards Centrāltirgus).
